Seattle Music Dead? Glenn Cannon has left the Building
The seminal Seattle band Windowpane has ceased to exist for many years but its front man , Glenn Cannon stuck it out here in the PNW trenches for many years, hell, decades in the form of Glenn Cannon and the Damage Done. He just came back ever so briefly to accept a well deserved award in Local Legend category from Washington State Independent Music Awards.I have been a devout Windowpane fan since first time I heard them way back in the early aughts. I was totally convinced this was the next epic rock-n-roll super-group but the fickle winds of the chaotic music industry certainly had other plans.This first video below featuring another local legend Rane Stone, the title ” You All Stopped Listening” couldn’t be more apropos.

Glenn has moved back east coast to Cumberland, Maryland or therabouts. He has cited decline in the industry, lack of opportunity and ridiculous inflation and cost of living in our area has some influence. Also more importantly he still has family and I’m certain it will be a blessing on that front I don’t blame him one single bit and I feel horrible that the Seattle area has done so horribly to support and nurture our local talent. I saw Pearl Jams’ Mike McCready on a KISW interview recent talking about how they created some sort of aid programs for local musicians. That is all fine and good but day late dollar short to be sure. I am sure Glenn will do great back east and he already has shows lined up (see flyer below). Hey Mike how bout we get a fund to get this OG back into quaint little mansion on Hunt’s Point and lucrative major label recording contract? No? Only needle exchange, socks, and hygiene kits. Sorry Glenn we tried. On behalf of Seattle I would like to apologize for being so derelict in our support the music community and allowing rampant decrepitude and decay of all its supporting infrastructure.
